Our Missions
The church family at Walter Hill FBC seeks to serve those outside the walls of our building as well. Below are some of our key mission organizations that we invest in with monetary support, donations, or time serving.
Appalachian Ministry (Kentucky):Our church family donates clothing, food, school supplies, and Christmas gifts for the families in this poverty-stricken area. We are currently ministering to Flat Lick, Kentucky after many years of assisting with God’s Closet in Feds Creek, Kentucky.
Child Evangelism Fellowship: WHFBC provides office space for the local Child Evangelism Fellowship of Middle TN. CEF is a Bible-centered, worldwide organization whose purpose is to evangelize children with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach them in the Word of God, and to get them involved in a local church. They offer after-school programs at some local schools thanks to volunteers from area churches. You can volunteer with your time or support this ministry financially!
Food Pantry: Food is donated to our food pantry to be made available for families in need.
School Supplies and Christmas Gifts: WHFBC works with local schools to provide school supplies and Christmas gifts to families in need right here in Rutherford County.
Mission Offerings: We pray for the 5,000+ Southern Baptist missionaries oversees and the 5,000+ here in the United States.
- Lottie Moon Christmas Offering: Lottie Moon lived from 1840-1912, serving as a Southern Baptist missionary to China for 40 years. She is the namesake of the Southern Baptist International Offering which support international missions around the world.
- Annie Armstrong Easter Offering: This offering was named for Annie in honor of her being the first corresponding secretary for Women’s Missionary Union. The monies given to this offering goes toward the missionary force in the United States and Canada.
- Golden State Missions Offering: We collect this special offering in September each year to provide financial support for ministries that help reach Tennesseans for Christ. Named after W.C. and Mildred Golden who, in 1902, suggested the week of prayer for state missions and state missions offering.
- Tennessee Baptist Homes Mother’s Day and Father’s Day Offerings: Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home provides Christ-centered, nurturing homes for children in hard places across Tennessee through compassionate on-campus homes and foster families.
- Year-round, our church gives 3% of our offerings to support our mission efforts through the Concord Baptist Association here in Rutherford County. We give 7% of our offerings to the Cooperative Program which supports missions through the Tennessee Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention.
